Grace Dell “Speedy” Johnson Jennings, age 90, widow of William H. “Wid” Jennings died Friday December 22, 2017 at her residence. She was a native of Russell County, born December 2, 1927 to the late Martin Marcillus and Rebecca Angeline Stacy Johnson.
Speedy moved to Madison County to attend 4 years at Berea College Foundation School. She was a member of the Eastern Star, spent 13 years as Medical Records Administrator for Berea Hospital and enjoyed participating in theatrical productions at Berea College. She was also a member of the White Lick Baptist Church.
Other than her husband and parents Speedy was preceded in death by two grandsons, Travis Cameron Simpson, William Joshua Wagers and 15 brothers and sisters.
Speedy is survived by her daughters, Anga Lee Jennings of Lexington, Ky., Dianne (Richard) Bailey of Spring Hill FL., her grandchildren, Ted (Kristina) Osborn, Timothy (Johnna) Simpson, Cayci (Brian) Sebastian and granddaughter in law, Christine Wagers. Great grandchildren, Will Simpson, Bradey McHargue, Cherish Simpson, Chandler Simpson, Bailey McHargue, and Isabella Wagers. Step great grandchildren, Isabella, Jasmine, Oneal Sebastian.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday January 3, 2018 at the White Lick Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9pm Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tim Simpson, Ted Osborn, Brian Sebastian, Will Simpson, Bradey McHargue, and Chandler Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Bailey, Bart Bowman, Tod Jennings, and Brent Walters.
The family would like to thank Hospice and their wonderful staff for the personal care given to our mother this past year. Also, Berea Drugs and staff for their continued support, Maxium Dental and staff for their personal care, White Lick Baptist Church, family members for their time and energy and friends of the family.
