Berea’s Madison Southern FFA chapter left on Monday, June 18 to take part in the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center based in Hardinsburg, Kentucky.

The team of ten consisted of Lauren Rowlette (President), Chelsea Haigh (Secretary), Clay Cornett (Reporter), Seth Anderson (Vice President), Clayton Cornelius (Sentinel), Logan Kirby (Treasurer), Andy Northern (Chaplain), Brookelyn Hoover (Historian) and Committee Chairmen Shane Barrett and Ansley Cornelius. The chapter was followed along by advisors Kevin Anderson and Madison Southern’s new agriculture teacher, Janna Cline.

All members participated in their officer classes, as well as special interest classes of welding, environmental conservation, livestock judging, archery, and leadership training. Southern stood out over 19 FFA chapters present, as the team held the first chapter meeting of the week in front of 305 Kentucky FFA members. In addition, Lauren Rowlette was elected camp council member for week two of FFA camp.

Madison Southern also made it to the semi-finals against Webster County in waterball (basketball in a pool) for the first time in school history, and made it to the second round of chapter volleyball against Madisonville North. The chapter returned to Madison County full of memories on Friday, June 22nd. Article Submitted by Madison Southerns FFA Reporter, Clay Cornett
