Spotlight Playhouse Presents Mel Brooks’ Hilarious Musical Young Frankenstein

Spotlight Playhouse presents the show Young Frankenstein The Musical at the Spotlight Playhouse in Berea from September 28-30. The Tony Award-winning comedy features Spotlight’s professional troupe of volunteers, The Bluegrass Players. Tickets are $6-10 each, and all proceeds go toward Spotlight Acting School’s scholarships.

Young Frankenstein has been a show on our theatre’s bucket list for a while,” said Chad Hembree, Executive Director of Spotlight Performing Arts, Inc. “It’s an instant crowd pleaser and a fun show for our cast to perform, too.”

The creators of The Producers and comedy genius Mel Brooks adapted his legendarily funny film, Young Frankenstein, into this brilliant stage creation, which premiered on Broadway in 2007 for a two-year run.

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked side-kick, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. “It’s alive!” he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity ensues.

The performance schedule is as follows:
September 28 and 29 at 7:00pm
September 30 at 2:00pm

The theater is located at 214 Richmond Road and opens for seating 30 minutes before performances. Tickets are $6 for students, $8 for seniors, and $10 for adults. They are available by phone at (859) 756-0011, at the door or online at www.thespotlightplayhouse.com. Concessions are available on-site.
